Argentina’s westernmost province is called La Rioja, or officially Province of La Rioja. The province’s terrain is made up of a number of mountain ranges that range from dry to semi-arid, with agricultural lowlands situated in between. The provincial capital, the city of La Rioja, is located in one of these valleys. The neighboring provinces are Catamarca, Córdoba, San Luis, and San Juan, going clockwise from the north. The province is honored in the name of the dinosaur, Riojasaurus.
