The capital of the Argentine province of Misiones is Posadas, which is located in the south, on the left bank of the Paraná River, across from Encarnación, Paraguay, in the country’s far northwest. The population of the city, which is 324,756 (2010 census [INDEC]), is spread throughout 965 square kilometers (373 sq mi), and an estimate from 2017 states that there are over 359,609 people living in the Greater Posadas area.
