The capital of the Monteros Department in the Argentine province of Tucumán is Monteros. At a height of 532 m (1,745 ft), it is 58 km (36 mi) southwest of San Miguel de Tucumán, the provincial seat. Four rivers encircle the area. 23,771 people called it home according to the 2001 Census [INDEC]. Summertime temperatures average out around 35 °C (95 °F), while wintertime lows are at −3 °C (27 °F) and highs of 45 °C (113 °F).
