The Northern Territory, officially the Northern Territory of Australia and colloquially referred to as the Territory, is an Australian territory located in the country’s central and central-northern regions. It is commonly shortened as NT. The 129th meridian east in Western Australia, the 26th parallel south in South Australia, and the 138th meridian east in Queensland are the shared borders of the Northern Territory. The region faces the Timor Sea, the Arafura Sea, and the Gulf of Carpentaria to the north, which includes Western New Guinea and other Indonesian archipelago islands.
