Sitra (Arabic: سترة or سِتْرَة,[1] As-Sitra), sometimes referred to as Sitrahor Sitra Island (Arabic: جزيرة سترة Jazīrat Sitrah), is an island in Bahrain that is located on Bahrain Island and is about 5 km (3.1 mi) south of the capital, Manama.

Past Events
The island of Sitra has seen a number of wars. One famous battle took place in 1782 between the native population and a contingent of Al Khalifa people who traveled to Sitra from Zubara in search of supplies. Both sides suffered casualties as a result of this conflict.
