Cuba’s largest city and capital is Havana. Havana, the primary port and commercial hub of the nation, is located in the center of the La Habana Province. In terms of area and population, it is the largest city in the Caribbean and the second largest metropolitan area overall. Its area is 728.26 km2 (281.18 sq mi) for the capital city side and 8,475.57 km2 for the metropolitan zone. As of 2012, there were 2,154,454 residents living there.
