The administrative center of Guntur district is located in Guntur, a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (pronunciation: ⓘ). Approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Amaravati, the state capital, the city is situated on the Eastern Coastal Plains and is a part of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region. With 743,354 people living there in 2011, Guntur ranked third in terms of population in the state[2] and covered 159.46 square kilometers (61.57 square miles) of area, according to figures from the 2011 Census of India.
