The Mangalagiri Assembly constituency in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh is governed by the Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC), which also oversees the villages and cities of Mangalagiri and Tadepalle under their respective mandals. In terms of area, it is the second largest municipal corporation in Andhra Pradesh, behind GVMC, with 194.41 km2 (75.06 sq mi) and 2,53,875 voters. It is regarded as a significant municipal corporation in Andhra Pradesh’s capital. India’s municipal corporation system was established under British rule in 1688 with the establishment of the city of Madras (Chennai). By 1762, other Indian cities had also adopted similar systems: Bombay (Mumbai) and Calcutta (Kolkata). Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation is managed by and led by the city’s mayor.
