Eastern India’s Dibang Valley is located in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is situated in the eastern Great Himalaya Range, with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China fronting its northern and eastern regions. The majority of the territory’s northern section is made up of the Mishmi Hills, an extension of the Himalayas towards the south. They are peppered by passes like Yonggyap, at 13,000 feet (3,950 meters), and Kaya, at 15,600 feet (4,750 meters), with an average elevation of 15,000 feet (4,500 meters). The Dibang River gives the area its name. The Dibang flows south to join the Brahmaputra River, along with the Ahui, Emra, Adzon, and Dri streams. The steep areas of the area are covered in subtropical evergreen forests with oak, maple, juniper, and pine trees.
