Past Events
The East Siang district received land from West Siang in 1989. This area has been a part of the new Upper Siang district since 1999. The Jawaharlal Nehru Museum in Itanagar is displaying archaeological artifacts from Malinithan in West Siang It was originally a part of the kingdom of Chutiya.Upper Siang and Lower Siang were the two divisions of West Siang. On December 9, 2018, the northern parts along the China border were divided into the separate Shi Yomi district, splitting the West Siang district in half.
