Meaning and Origin
Goalpara’s name is said to have come from the phrase “Gwaltippika,” which translates to “the village of the milk men,” or Guwali village (Yadav).In vernacular, “para” denotes a settlement.

Geographical
Goalpara is situated by the Brahmaputra River. It is 35 meters (114 feet) above sea level on average.

With a variety of waterfowl and monkeys, Hulukanda Hill, situated in the center of Goalpara on the bank of the Brahmaputra river, is one of the town’s naturally picturesque vistas. Other bodies of water are Urpad Beel, Kumri Beel, and Hashila Beel.
