Tezpur is a town in the Indian state of Assam’s Sonitpur district. The largest of the north bank cities is Tezpur, which is situated 175 kilometers (109 miles) northeast of Guwahati on the banks of the Brahmaputra river.
Past Events
In the ninth century, Tezpur was ruled by the Koch dynasty; in the sixteenth century, it joined the Ahom kingdom. The Ahoms, renowned for their skill in administration and their support of the arts and culture, were influential in creating Tezpur’s legacy. The medieval era saw numerous fights and conflicts in the city.
Several temples, monuments, and archaeological sites can be found in modern Tezpur, which is also a center for education and culture.
