Atri, also known as Attri, is a Vedic sage who is recognized for having written many hymns to Hindu Vedic deities Agni, Indra, and others. Within the Hindu faith, Atri is the most referenced sage in scripture and one of the Saptarishi, or seven famous Vedic sages. The Rigveda
In honor of him, the fifth Mandala (Book 5) of the Rigveda is referred to as the Atri Mandala, and the eighty-seven hymns therein are credited to him and his lineage.

The Hindu epics of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as the Puranas, all make reference to Atri.[
