The Indian state of Bihar consists of 38 districts, one of which being Bhojpur district. Arrah city, also referred to as Ara, serves as this district’s administrative center. The district of Bhojpur was established in 1972. It was formerly a part of the Shahabad district. Since most of the first inhabitants were Rajput kings of the Parmara dynasty, formerly known as the Ujjainiya, the district is named “Bhojpur” after the famous Parmara King Bhoja.[2][3]
Shahabad district was divided into two sections, named Bhojpur and Rohtas, in 1972. Back then, Buxar was a part of the former Bhojpur district. Following Buxar’s 1992 secession, the remaining Bhojpur district is currently divided into three subdivisions: Ara Sadar, Jagdishpur, and Piro. Its northwest boundary is shared with Uttar Pradesh.
