In the Indian state of Bihar, Forbesganj is a town and community development block located in the Araria district. It is one of the three subdivision blocks of Forbesganj. The block’s headquarters are located in Forbesganj Town.

Meaning and Origin
Alexander John Forbes (1807–1890), an East India Company district collector and municipal commissioner, ruled the region during the British Raj. There was also a bungalow owned by Forbes. As a result, the region came to be referred to as “residential area,” or simply “R-area.” With time, the neighborhood subdivision’s name changed to “Araria,” and it became known as “Forbesganj.”
