Lalganj is a significant town located in the Vaishali district of Bihar. It is the nearest city, 39 kilometers from Patna, the capital of Bihar, 60 kilometers from Mehsi, the old city of Morden, 37.6 kilometers from Muzaffarpur, the North Bihar headquarters, and a river port.

Past Events
It is a component of the Tirhut district. The Lalganj Nagar Board was established in 1869, when it was the second largest district in Bihar, with 11 Commissioners, after Hajipur and Sitamarhi. During the 1951 Census, its area shrank by 3 square miles. Prior to 1971, Lalganj Municipality had four wards. In 2001, there were fourteen wards, and in 2011, there were nineteen wards. In Bihar, one of the largest libraries is Sharda Sadan Pushtakalya.
