In the Mithila region of the Indian state of Bihar, there is a district called Sitamarhi. This district’s administrative center is located at Dumra. The district is situated near the Nepali border and is a part of the Tirhut Division.

History: This location is regarded as the birthplace of Sita, the protagonist of the epic Ramayana, and a Sita temple is located close to the town of Sitamarhi.[2] Near Sitamarhi, there is a Mauryan rock-cut sanctuary.
