India’s Durg district is located in the state of Chhattisgarh. Durg is the district headquarters. The district is 2,238 km² in size. It is Chhattisgarh’s second most populous district (out of 18) as of 2011, behind Raipur.

There are two significant religious locations in the district. Indians travel from all over the country to visit the main Hindu temple, the Ganga Maiyaat Jhalmala, and the Jain shrine of Uwasaggaharam Parshwa Teerth at Nagpura (near Durg). The Langurveer Mandir, located near Durg, is the sole Hindu temple in India dedicated to the god Langoorveer.
