The district of Janjgir-Champa is located in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The city of Maharaja Jajawalya Dev, of the Kalachuri dynasty, is the district seat of the district Janjgir–Champa, Janjgir. Formerly a section of the district of Bilaspur, Jangir was divided into its own district in 1998 and gave rise to a political dispute concerning the district’s new name, which it continues to use as “Janjgir–Champa”. Most residents are migrants from neighboring settlements.
