With its headquarters located at Kondagaon, the Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, India, was formed on January 24, 2012, following its separation from the Bastar district. It is best known for its bell metal crafts and other indigenous Bastar tribal art forms. Because of the wide range of native crafts made there, it is sometimes referred to as Chhattisgarh’s “craft city,” or Shilp sheher.
