In the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, Korba is both a city and an industrial area located in Korba District. Prior to May 25, 1998, Korba was a part of the Bilaspur District. Afterwards, for administrative convenience, it was separated into its own district; nonetheless, Bilaspur Division still oversees it. Because of its coal supplies and industrial basis for numerous thermally based power plants from the public sector, such as NTPC Limited and CSEB from the State of Chhattisgarh, as well as from the private sector aside from power plants, Korba is known as the “power hub of India.” In the Gevra section of Korba Coalfie, there is the largest open-pit coal mine in India and the second largest in Asia.
