Surajpur district is located in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, and it serves as the administrative center of the district. Surajpur district is traversed by National Highway 43. On August 15, 2011, Surajpur and eight other newly created districts were officially designated as districts. The National Satyan Maitra Literacy Award has been given to Surajpur as its inaugural district. Along with the Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary, the district is well-known for its market, which offers reasonably priced, high-quality products, and other popular tourist destinations in Chhattisgarh.
