The district of Surguja is located inside the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. One of Chhattisgarh’s oldest districts is this one. Ambikapur is the district headquarters.

The district is located east of the Vindhyachal-Baghelkhand region of peninsular India, in its own Surguja dialectal zone (where Surgujia is spoken).

Numerous ethnic groups, including the Gond, Bhumij, Oraon, Panika, Korwa, Bhuiya, Kharwar, Munda, Chero, Rajwar, Nagesia, Kanwar, and Santal, were distributed over the district’s large mountainous expanse.
