Delhi’s administrative district is located in East Delhi, India. The Yamuna River borders it on the west, North East Delhi borders it on the north, Ghaziabad District borders the state of Uttar Pradesh on the east, and Gautam Buddha Nagar District borders the state of Uttar Pradesh on the south. Three subdivisions make up the district administratively: Gandhi Nagar, Preet Vihar, and Mayur Vihar.

According to the 2011 census, East Delhi has 1,709,346 residents and covers 64 km2 (25 sq mi), or 22,639 people per km².
