The Indian state of Gujarat saw the creation of the Mahisagar district on January 26, 2013, making it the state’s 28th district overall. The districts of Panchmahal and Kheda have been divided to form the new district. “Mahi River” is the source of the district name Mahisagar. Mahisagar’s district headquarters are located in Lunawada. It officially opened for business on August 15, 2013.
