The Kurukshetra district, located in the Ambala division of Haryana state in northern India, is one of the 22 districts of the state. The administrative center of the district is the town of Kurukshetra, a holy site for Hindus. The district has a population of 964,655 as of the 2011 census. Kurukshetra is also the home of Srimad Bhagawad Gita. The location of Jyotisar in Kurukshetra is where Krishna is said to have given the Gita’s sermon to Arjuna in the Mahabharata.
