Sthanishvara, another name for Thanesar, is a Hindu pilgrimage site and medieval city located in the Kurukshetra area of Haryana, India. It is roughly 160 kilometers northwest of Delhi. The region of the city Kurukshetra unites with Thanesar.

Following the fall of the Gupta Empire, the Pushyabhuti dynasty, whose emperors took control of most of Aryavarta, had Thanesar as their capital.
