The Indian state of Himachal Pradesh has the town of Dharamshala, which is often spelled Dharamsala. Since 1855, it has functioned as both the state’s winter capital and the administrative center of the Kangra district.[5][6][7] The Tibetan Government-in-Exile is also based in this town. Prior to being changed to a municipal corporation in 2015, Dharamshala was a municipal council.

At 1,457 meters (4,780 feet) above sea level, the town is situated in the Kangra Valley under the shadow of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas.
