In India’s Himachal Pradesh state is the industrial town of Paonta Sahib. It is situated on National Highway 72, or New NH 7, to the south of the Sirmaur district. Sikhs consider Paonta Sahib to be a sacred site. It is home to Gurudwara Paonta Sahib, a sizable Gurdwara situated on the Yamuna River’s banks. The Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand states are divided by the river.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Sikh Guru, created the town.[2] The tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and the Sikh leader Banda Singh Bahadur are connected to the Gurudwara Paonta Sahib. It was formerly known as Paontika. Paon means “feet” in Hindi, and tika means “became stable.
