In the disputed Kashmir region, Bandipore district—also spelled Bandipora or Bandipur—is an administrative district of Jammu and Kashmir, which is governed by India. It is one of Jammu and Kashmir’s twenty districts. The district’s administrative center is located at Bandipore Town. Hundreds of professors and intellectuals have come from Bandipore, which is situated in the foothills of the snow-capped peaks of Harmukh and overlooks the shores of Wular Lake.[Reference required] The neighborhood is well-known for its tourism destinations, which include Gurez Valley, Athwatoo, and Wular Vintage Park. This town was a major hub for trade and literature in Kashmir before to 1947. In 2007, this district was created by dividing the former Baramulla district.
