In the disputed Kashmir area, the Shopian district is an administrative district of Jammu and Kashmir, which is administered by India. The area is hilly, and Shopian town serves as its administrative hub. Given that it is located along the historic Mughal Road, woods cover the majority of the land. The Pir Panjal Range, which is where the Shopian district is located, causes extremely chilly winters. It was a tehsil in the district of Pulwama after India was divided. The Indian government awarded the district status in March of 2007. The district’s economy is based mostly on agriculture, especially apple cultivation.
A place known as “the apple bowl of Kashmir” is the Shopian district.
