One of the twenty-four districts that make up the state of Jharkhand in eastern India is Seraikela Kharsawan district. The district office for the Saraikela Kharsawan district is located at Seraikela town. Seraikela Chhau, one of the three unique chhau dance styles, is a well-known feature of the district. In 2001, this district was split off from the West Singhbhum district. Following India’s independence, the district was created from the princely realms of Seraikela and Kharaswan.
