The administrative district of Bagalkot, also known as Bagalakote (/ˈbɑ˞ɡələkoʊteɪ/), is located in the Indian state of Karnataka. The settlement of Bagalakote is home to the district office. The district is bordered by Belgaum, Gadag, Koppal, Raichur, and Bijapur and is situated in northern Karnataka. Vijayapura was divided into the new Bagalakote district in 1997 by Government of Karnataka directive notification No. RD 42 LRD 87 Part III. Ten taluks make up the divided Bagalkot district: Badami, Bagalakote, Bilagi, Guledgudda, Rabkavi Banhatti, Hunagund, Ilkal, Jamakhandi, and Mudhol, Teradal are among them.
