India’s Karnataka state contains the town of Bangarapet in its Kolar district. The taluk of Bangarapet has its headquarters in Bangarapet. Originally known as Bowringpet, Bangarapet got its name from an officer who worked in the Kolar Gold Fields. This town was created to serve as the hub for trade between Bangalore and the gold fields.
