India’s state of Karnataka has the district of Chikkaballapura. The district was formed on August 23, 2007, by transferring the talukas of Gauribidanur, Gudibanda, Bagepalli, Chikballapur, Manchenahalli, Chelur, Sidlaghatta, and Chintamani from the former Kolar district, which was the fourth largest district in Karnataka prior to its division. The official language is Kannada.
