India’s Karnataka state has Davanagere district as one of its administrative districts. It serves as Karnataka’s center. The district office is located in the city of Davanagere. As of 2011, it had 1,643,494 residents, of which 32.31% lived in urban areas.

The district, which is located in the state’s middle plains, is distinguished by its ability to draw influence from both the north and the south. The six other taluks in this district are also notable towns: Nyamati, Jagalur, Honnali Channagiri, and Harihara. Its borders are to the west by the districts of Haveri and Shimoga, to the east by Chitradurga, to the north by Vijayanagara, and to the south by Chikmagalur.
