Kaduru, often spelled Kadur, is a Taluk in the Karnataka district of Chikmagalur and the second-largest town in the district. It is situated in the western ghats’ rain shadow at 13.553345°N 76.011260°E[2]. Unlike much of the district, the taluk is mostly arid. Kadur is well-known for producing coconuts and areca nuts.
It was once the capital of the Kadur district and is currently the second-biggest town in the area. The district name persisted even after Chikmagalur became the new capital in 1865. The district was renamed Chikmagalur district later in 1947.
