In the Karnataka district of Chikmagalur is a taluk called Kalasa. The Lord Shiva-focused Kalaseshwara Temple is located in Kalasa.[2] Situated on the banks of the Bhadra River, Kalasa is 92 kilometers to the southwest of Chickmagalur. Here, Kannada is the language spoken.
