Kochi, formerly known as Cochin, is a significant port city on India’s Malabar Coast, which borders the Laccadive Sea. It is a portion of the Keralan district of Ernakulam. Another widely used name for the city is Ernakulam. With 677,38] people living in 94.88 km2 of the Kochi Municipal Corporation and over 2.1 million people living in 440 km2 of the broader Kochi urban agglomeration as of 2011, these two areas were Kerala’s largest and most populated metropolitan areas.
