Mavelikarai is a municipality located in Kerala, India’s Alappuzha district. It lies roughly 95 km (59.0 mi) north of Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital, and 36 km (22.4 mi) south of the district headquarters at Alappuzha. 26,421 people call Mavelikkara home, with a population density of 2,088/km2 (5,410/sq mi) according to the 2011 Indian census.

Formerly the capital of the medieval kingdom of Odanad, Mavelikkara is now the main center of the Onattukara region’s economy and culture.
