Muvattupuzha is a municipality located in Kerala, India’s Ernakulam district. It lies roughly 170 km (105.6 mi) north of Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital, and 26 km (16.2 mi) east of the district headquarters at Thrikkakara. 30,397 people live in Perumbavoor, with a population density of 2,306/km2 (5,970/sq mi) according to the 2011 Indian census.

Muvattupuzha shares borders with the districts of Idukki on the east and Kottayam on the south. Muvattupuzha is located approximately 28 km (17 mi) from Ernakulam, the district headquarters, at the intersection of MC Road and National Highway 49. Muvattupuzha is situated five kilometers (3.1 miles) from Arakuzha, 17 kilometers (11 mi) from Koothattukulam, and 20 kilometers (12 km) from Thodupuzha.
