Kerala, a state in India, has 14 districts, including Palakkad. On January 1st, 1957, it was separated from the southeast portion of the previous Malabar District. It is the second largest district in the state of Kerala, after Idukki, and is situated in the central area of the state. The district office is located in the city of Palakkad. Palakkad is bounded to the northwest by the district of Malappuram, to the southwest by the district of Thrissur, to the northeast by the district of Nilgiris, and to the east by the district of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. “The granary of Kerala” is the moniker given to the area. Because of the Palakkad Gap, which is located in the Western Ghats, Palakkad serves as the entry point to Kerala.
