A significant town and municipality in Kerala, India’s Malappuram district is called Perinthalmanna. Together with a revenue division, a community development block, and a police sub-division of the same name, it functions as the administrative hub for the Perinthalmanna taluk. It used to be the headquarters of Valluvanad Taluk, one of the two Taluks of the British Raj’s Malappuram Revenue Division of the former Malabar District.The city is situated in the middle of the Kozhikode–Malappuram–Perinthalmanna–Palakkad National Highway 966, 23 kilometers (14 mi) southwest of the city of Malappuram.

Despite not being a part of the Malappuram metropolitan region, it is one of the district’s principal business hubs.
