Ladakh Union Territory’s founding
Jammu and Kashmir was the birthplace of Ladakh. On August 5, 2019, the Union cabinet agreed to remove Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and remove Article 370 from the region. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, introduced the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019, in parliament. On October 31, 2019, Ladakh became a new union territory after an act enacted by the Parliament in August of that year.
Concerning Ladakh
The following will make up the newly created Union Territory of Ladakh:
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has jurisdiction over the districts of Kargil and Leh (Ladakh). A director general of police oversees the police force in the union territory of Ladakh. Officers will be recruited in Ladakh by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Ladakh will be subject to several laws and get direct support from the national government. The police will be under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ jurisdiction. Ladakh officials will be paid in accordance with the seventh pay commission.
