Dewas District is located in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Dewas serves as the district’s headquarters. It belongs to the Ujjain Division.

Dewas District largely corresponds to the borders of the twin Maratha princely realms of Dewas (junior and senior). The district straddles the Vindhya Range, with the northern portion being on the Malwa plateau and the southern portion in the Narmada River basin. The Narmada defines the district’s southern boundary. The district is bordered to the east by Sehore District, to the south by Harda and Khandwa Districts, to the west by Khargone and Indore Districts, and to the north by Ujjain and Shajapur Districts. Dewas District is part of the Ujjain Division.
