Maharashtra, a state in India, contains the district of Akola. The district office is located in the city of Akola. The Amravati Division, formerly the Berar Province under the British Raj, is centered in the Akola district.

The district is 5,428 km2 in size. Its borders are as follows: Buldhana District to the west, Washim District to the south, and Amravati District to the east and north. Up until 1999, Washim was a part of Akola. Seven talukas make up the Akola district: Akola, Akot, Telhara, Balapur, Barshitakli, Murtijapur, and Patur.
