India’s Thane is a city in the western state of Maharashtra. It is located northeast of metropolitan Mumbai (Bombay), near the head of the Ulhas estuary and the mouth of the Thana River. Because there are thirty beautiful lakes inside the boundaries of the city and district, the city is referred to as the “City of Lakes” informally.
