Ukhrul is the administrative center of the Indian state of Manipur, and it serves as the state’s headquarters. The Ukhrul district was established as the North-East Hill Sub-Division of the former princely state of Manipur in the 1920s, and it has a rich history since then. The current layout of the Ukhrul district was created in 2016 when the Kamjong subdivision of the district was split off as a separate district.
