One of the eleven districts that make up the Indian state of Mizoram is Hnahthial district. Hnahthial District was first notified of its existence on September 12, 2008, but despite numerous assurances from influential political figures and a determined effort by the Hnahthial District Function Demand Committee to allow the state government to bring it online, it remained inactive until 2020. On June 3, 2019, just 12 years after it was established, the Hnahthial district became operational with the establishment of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.[
