The planned city of Rourkela is situated in Odisha, India’s Sundargarh district in the north. After Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, it is the third-largest urban agglomeration in Odisha. Situated approximately 328 kilometers (204 miles) west of Bhubaneswar, the state capital, it is ringed by the rivers Koel, Sankha, and Brahmani as well as a range of hills. The city is also referred to as Steel City of Odisha and Ispat Nagar.
